Mount Holly is a small suburban city located within Gaston County, North Carolina. With a booming housing market, expansion and improvements to the local community is essential. Recently, a new housing community was developed called Azalea Ridge. Located conveniently off Highway 27, this new development features open, modern floor plans and a multitude of amenities including scenic nature trails and several playgrounds.
As part of this housing development, a new sanitary sewer overflow system was needed to account for the expansion. After review of several options, a DuroMaxx® SRPE SSO system was selected. The tank was installed adjacent to a wet well for a residential sanitary lift station, designed to serve a 65-lot housing community. This station will be used to move effluent out of the subdivisions to a sanitary trunk line where it can make its way to the local wastewater treatment facility. In the event of a large rainstorm or pumping issue, this tank would provide expansion to the original system.
DPR Associates selected the DuroMaxx system as it was both watertight per ASTM D3213 standards and resistant to hydrogen sulfide gas produced in sanitary systems. The 96-inch diameter, 31’ long DuroMaxx® SRPE SSO system was designed to capture a volume of 11,295 gallons and included a 30-inch diameter access riser to provide a straightforward inspection and maintenance process.
