GWI announces winners at the 2019 Global Water Awards; Ovivo acquires Westech Industrial

GWI Announces Winners of the 2019 Global Water Awards

Global Water Intelligence (GWI) has announced the winners of the 2019 Global Water Awards, which were presented on April 9 at the Natural History Museum, London as part of the Global Water Summit 2019. The coveted awards ceremony recognizes the industry’s greatest achievements over the previous year, rewarding the initiatives and companies in the water, wastewater and desalination sectors that are moving the industry forward through improved operating performance, innovative technology adoption and sustainable financial models.

“The Global Water Awards 2019 celebrated the stories of positive disruption in the water sector in 2018, recognizing the pioneers and innovators who pushed the industry to greater heights in the last year,” said Christopher Gasson, Publisher, Global Water Intelligence. “This year’s shortlist represented truly outstanding quality, and to be nominated is an exceptional achievement. Ovivo Acquires Westech Industrial

Ovivo Inc. has announced the acquisition of Westech Industrial Inc., doing business as Varec Biogas, a subsidiary of Westech Industrial Ltd.

Based in Stafford, Texas, and Huntington Beach, Cal., Varec Biogas is a leader in the biogas market in North America. It designs, services and distributes the most complete line of biogas safety and handling equipment in the world, for municipal waste management and for various industrial applications. Over the past 50 years, Varec Biogas has built a well-established customer base, largely attributable to its expertise, products and brand.

Utilis Advocates for Texas Senate Bill

Utilis participated in a Texas state legislative committee hearing on April 9 and was recognized on both the Senate floor by Senator Brandon Creighton and on the House floor by Representative Phil King. Utilis CEO, Elly Perets, spoke before the Senate Committee of Business and Commerce to advocate for a bill that seeks to prioritize and strengthen the relationship between Texas and Israel.

Infiltrator Acquires Presby Environmental Inc.

Infiltrator Water Technologies has announced the purchase of Presby Environmental Inc. Presby Environmental manufactures the Enviro-Septic, Advanced Enviro-Septic, EnviroFin and other wastewater treatment technologies.

Evoqua Chosen to Design, Manufacture and Install Turnkey Wastewater Treatment Facility

Evoqua Water Technologies has  announced that it has been selected by Carolina Water Service, Inc. of North Carolina, through its sales partner Premier Water, to design, manufacture and install a new wastewater treatment system located in the gated golf course community of Connestee Falls, N.C. The plant was designed to be sustainable, with a focus on increasing the plant’s efficiency and extending its useful life.

The wastewater treatment system will feature a stainless steel Omnipac sequencing batch reactor field-erected system and will treat 0.54 million gal per day, replacing an existing concrete-basin design system that is nearing the end of its useful life. Evoqua, along with Land Design Engineers of North Carolina, provided a thorough evaluation of the existing facility and recommended the best option for a long-life wastewater treatment solution.
