Abengoa was named Water Company of the Year at the Global Water Awards ceremony held in Athens, Greece. This award recognizes the contribution that Abengoa has made to the water sector in 2014 through its projects, research and other initiatives.
The awards committee took into account Abengoa's ability to offer customized solutions for each client, as well as the diversification of its non-desalination assets. The characteristics of the Vista Ridge water transmission project also caught the attention of the committee.
Global Water Intelligence created the Global Water Awards in 2005. These awards are presented by professionals in the water sector, such as business leaders, researchers and managers, making them representative of the sector as a whole.
Abengoa has been recognized on various occasions for its performance in the water industry in the fields of desalination and project management. The company won Desalination Company of the Year twice (2009 and 2013), as well as the award for Desalination Project of the Year (2007) and Developer of the Year (2007).
