Thermo Fisher introduces AquaMate Spectrophotometers

Instruments allow operators to simply select UV-Vis wavelengths

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has expanded its portfolio of optical measurement instruments with the introduction of the Thermo Scientific Orion AquaMate 7000 and 8000 Series spectrophotometers, which enable water and wastewater lab operators to select UV-Vis wavelengths quickly and easily for accurate concentration measurements.

The Orion AquaMate spectrophotometers are available in two versions to better meet application needs: The AquaMate 7000 is a cost-effective solution for measurements in the visible-only range, while the AquaMate 8000 can carry out measurements across the entire spectrum, from UV to the near-infrared (NIR). Both instruments include more than 260 preprogrammed measurement methods for many leading manufacturers’ reagent chemistries, allowing for great convenience and productivity in the lab.

“The AquaMate spectrophotometers were designed with customer ease of use and expediency in mind,” said Dr. George B. Jarvis, senior research and development manager for water analysis instruments at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “The ‘press, measure and record’ function allows for any operator to efficiently perform optical water measurements, ensuring the instrument is easy to operate with consistent results. Also, you may use the chemistries you prefer because of the compatibility of the instruments’ preprogrammed methods with many reagent manufacturers.”

Despite their small footprint and lightweight design, both the AquaMate 7000 and 8000 spectrophotometers offer numerous features for flexible operation at a cost-effective price. In particular, the AquaMate 8000 UV-Vis spectrophotometer utilizes a high-intensity xenon flash lamp for long life, averaging three years of maintenance-free performance. Its narrow 1.8-nm spectral bandwidth provides optimal resolution to meet strict bandwidth requirements.
