UV System Offers Low-Energy Drinking Water Disinfection for Small Communities

Feb. 11, 2015
The technology safeguards water from a range of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses & chlorine-resistant protozoa

Ultraviolet (UV) light is an environmentally friendly, chemical-free way to safeguard water from a range of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses and chlorine-resistant protozoa such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. To make UV disinfection simpler, the TrojanUVTelos combines the TrojanUV Solo Lamp and TrojanUV Flow Integration (FIN) Technology to deliver a low-lamp-count, low-energy and easy-to-maintain UV disinfection system. The cost savings and efficiency gains driven by FIN result from the use of patent-pending flow modifiers distributed throughout the length of the closed-vessel UV chamber. FIN matches areas of high velocity with high intensity, and by eliminating flow jetting, ensures an even UV dose distribution.

To further simplify operation, with TrojanUVTelos SCADA connection is standard, as is remote online monitoring and enhanced regulatory reporting capability. Pre-wired drivers and controls mounted on the UV chamber eliminate the need for a separate, wall- or stand-mounted cabinet. This makes installation easier and reduces footprint, with the end goal of making UV a simple disinfection solution for small communities.
