Aquionics’ PearlSense T254 transmittance monitor has taken first prize in an innovation competition run by its parent company, Halma plc. The award recognizes technology advancements made by Halma subsidiaries that have a significant impact on the company’s success.
The Innovation Awards stem from Halma’s belief that encouraging continual improvement and unique ideas are key factors in its prosperity. Innovation drives organic growth in its subsidiaries and differentiates them from their competitors. The awards committee looks for creative new ways of doing things to improve a company’s products or operations and rewards the companies with the determination to bring them to fruition.
Developed in collaboration with Halma sister company, Avo Photonics, the PearlSense’s UV-C LED technology beat out 23 other entries from 13 Halma companies. This is the first product of its kind, using highly efficient UV-C LED technology rather than mercury lamps to measure UV transmittance. The result is a compact design with long-lasting lamp life, helping UV disinfection system users ensure proper UV dosing and efficient operation.
“We’re really proud of the PearlSense T254 as it represents a true shift in the way UV transmittance can be measured,” said Aquionics president, Oliver Lawal. “We feel it will expand the application uses for this key water parameter into new markets.”
This is the second award for the Aquionics Pearl brand. In 2013, it won the coveted International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) Product Innovation Award for its PearlAqua UV-C LED water disinfection device.
