LAN Adds Regional Director

Leisa Nelson will manage the firm’s Large Diameter Pipe Group in Houston

Leisa Nelson, P.E., joined planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc. (LAN) as a regional director. In this role, Nelson will manage LAN Houston’s Large Diameter Pipe group.

Nelson has more than 30 years of civil engineering experience. Previously, she served as vice president and manager of the Houston office of the infrastructure and environment division of URS Corp. Prior to that, she served KBR Inc. in a number of senior leadership roles, including national water market director, executive director, director of engineering, manager of business planning and program manager. She also worked for the city of Houston as a plant manager for 10 years.

Nelson has served public and private sector clients on a range of infrastructure projects throughout the nation. Some of her notable projects include the Integrated Pipeline Project for the Tarrant Regional Water District, North Texas; Waller Creek Flood Control Tunnel Project, Austin; Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, Panama City; and the Greater Houston Wastewater Program. While serving the city of Houston, she was responsible for large wastewater treatment and bio-solids dewatering facilities, including the 69th Street Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Nelson is actively involved in various organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Water Environment Assn. of Texas, where she served as the past president of its southeast section. She also volunteers as an instructor at Houston’s East End elementary schools for its STEM program, a program meant to encourage more girls to pursue careers in science, technology and math fields.

Nelson received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati and her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston. Nelson is a registered professional engineer and certified wastewater operator in Texas.
