American Water Works Co. Inc. is expanding the number of states in which its Water Line and Sewer Line Protection Programs will be available to homeowners in Alabama, Delaware, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and Rhode Island.
Offered through American Water Resources Inc., a subsidiary of American Water, the Water Line Protection and Sewer Line Protection Programs provide homeowners with comprehensive protection from the costs associated with leaks and breaks in water lines, as well as clogs or blockages in sewer lines running through their property. These repairs are not typically covered by homeowners’ insurance or by their water or sewer service provider.
“Until they experience a service line emergency, many homeowners are unaware that they are responsible for repairs to the water and sewer lines on their property. So we are pleased to be able to educate homeowners about this issue and to offer programs that help protect them from the high cost of these repairs,” said Barbara Boyarsky, vice president and general manager of American Water Resources.
The Water Line and Sewer Line Protection Programs provide homeowners with protection for water and sewer line emergencies that result from normal wear and tear, including the dispatching of a local, licensed independent contractor for repairs, basic site restoration and 24/7 customer service. The Water Line Protection Program covers up to $5,000 in repairs and Sewer Line Protection Program covers up to $8,000 in repairs.
“Another benefit of enrollment in these programs is that homeowners don’t need to go through the hassle of finding a qualified, trustworthy contractor to make what is often an emergency repair,” Boyarsky said. “American Water Resources establishes and maintains a network of local, licensed independent contractors in each of the communities we serve, so our customers can be assured of receiving expedient and effective service.”
Residents in the communities where this service will be offered will receive information in the mail.
