The solid tablets facilitate safer microbial control in water cooling systems
Source Dow Microbial Control
Dow Microbial Control, a business group of The Dow Chemical Co., has received approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its solid form of Kathon antimicrobial.
Kathon 7 TL antimicrobial solid tablets are packaged in a water-soluble film that dissolves rapidly with no residue, significantly reducing potential user contact with the active ingredients while providing the same performance of the liquid Kathon antimicrobials. This new product provides water treatment professionals with a new option for microbial control of smaller cooling systems, including systems which have not been treated to-date.
The antimicrobial is made with the active ingredients chloromethyl-methylisothiazolone. Formulated with 7% active ingredient, the solid form and the protective wrapper provide several advantages, including easy dosing with a lower risk of exposure than poured liquid products. The tablets facilitate safer handling while eliminating the potential for spills, splashes, leaks or drips compared to liquid products, and the concentrated tablet form also reduces service company transportation costs. The tablets are non-reactive with water treatment additives and have low corrosion potential.
