The Privacy Shield program provides data privacy standards for the transfer of data between European Union residents & U.S. companies

Badger Meter, a manufacturer of flow measurement, control and communications solutions, has self-certified its participation with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. The Privacy Shield program was designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission to provide data privacy standards for the transfer of data between European Union (EU) residents and U.S. companies in support of transatlantic commerce.

The Privacy Shield self-certification is the latest step in Badger Meter’s protecting its customers’ critical data. In 2015, the company obtained certification of its Information Security Management System under ISO 27001 and met the Service Organization Control (SOC) reporting framework of SOC-2.

“Our Privacy Shield participation confirms that we will comply with European Union requirements for transferring data between the EU and the U.S. It provides assurance to our customers in the European Union using our BEACON Advanced Metering Analytics (AMA) solution that their data will be transferred to Badger Meter according to the Privacy Shield framework,” said John Fillinger, director, utility marketing for Badger Meter. “Maintaining the security of our customers’ data, and respecting our customers’ privacy concerns, is a number-one priority for Badger Meter.”
