Advanced Drainage Systems Inc., a manufacturer of corrugated plastic pipe, announced plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Watertown, S.D. The new plant will be fully operational by late summer 2012.
“We’re seeing enormous demand in the upper Midwest for our entire product line, including single wall agricultural pipe, dual wall storm drain pipe, HP sanitary pipe, storm chambers, sanitary chambers and many other products,” said Joe Chlapaty, chairman and CEO of ADS.
“ADS has added a tremendous amount of manufacturing capacity in the region to ensure that our customers receive the very best on-time delivery and support. The demand for our products in South Dakota, North Dakota and northern Minnesota has been incredible,” Chlapaty added. “We are very pleased to be a part of this region’s economic growth. In fact, Watertown will be our third new manufacturing facility in this region, joining new plants in Hampton, Iowa, and Buxton, N.D. It is very satisfying to see the value that sophisticated farmers place on well-drained fields. It is a well accepted fact that field drainage will increase crop yield by 25% and with surging land values and higher crop prices field drainage has never been a better value.”
The new Watertown plant is part of ADS' $10 million capital investment announced last August to add significant pipe production capacity to the region. "When this new plant is opened, we will be operating 55 manufacturing locations worldwide. We will continue to build new plants and add equipment and personnel to supply ADS products that are being used for infrastructure projects and for agricultural drainage systems," said Chlapaty.
