Ebara Fluid Handling Announces Executive Leadership Change

Jan. 9, 2015
Richard Thompson will head the division

Richard Thompson has been appointed vice president, Ebara Fluid Handling Div. (FHD) and will assume full management and overall operations of the division, effective immediately.

Thompson’s appointment is part of an executive management transition as he succeeds Martin Perlmutter who has served as Ebara FHD’s president for more than 16 years. As part of the transition, Perlmutter will continue to support and be involved with FHD and Ebara in an advisory role until March 31, 2015.

“Rick Thompson has taken responsibility for many aspects of our business already with excellent results and consistent style and competence,” Perlmutter said. “Under his leadership, our company will continue to grow and improve our position in the market.”

“I am thrilled to continue with Ebara in this new capacity,” Thompson said. “I look forward to working with FHD’s dedicated employees to build on the accomplishments and solid foundations of the current programs Marty started and implementing new strategies to maintain our growth in the pump industry.”

Thompson has been with Ebara Intl. Corp. for 17 years, holding various positions in marketing, operations and management fields. Thompson has identified and taken the lead on several large-scale projects including a major manufacturing and test facility expansion, the launch of a Western region distribution center and an overhaul and focus of FHD’s industry-leading customer service center.

With more than 36 years of pump industry experience, Perlmutter cited personal reasons for his departure from Ebara.

“After much careful consideration and thought, I want to spend more time with family and pursue other interests” Perlmutter said. “It’s never easy to leave something you poured so much energy and passion into. Never in my career have I enjoyed working with such a wonderful group of people.”
