The man’s truck crashed into a sinkhole caused by a water main break, but he was quickly rescued
On Aug. 7, a man was rescued from the roof of his Chevrolet truck after crashing into a sinkhole created by a water main break in Worcester, Mass. The break occurred when a 24-in. diameter water line burst around 3 p.m. EST, leaving up to 50,000 people without water for a short amount of time.
The man who was stranded by the water main rupture drove into a sinkhole and his truck quickly was submerged. He climbed out of his vehicle and took refuge on the roof, until officials were able to rescue him.
The burst pipe emptied the city’s water storage tank, but water department officials say that the water now is safe to use, as reported by the Associated Press.
