The Northeast Water Purification Project intake pump station is a 20,000 square foot facility with more than 250,000 man-hours behind it. Clocking in at $1.8 billion, this project is one of several critical pieces to the ongoing efforts to provide an alternative water source to Houston, the fourth most populous city in the U.S.

Hear from Miguel Arguelles, project director for McCarthy Building Companies, about the construction logistics and safety matters addressed through planning and construction. Randy Rogers, Houston Water Works Team chief engineer, dives into the technical engineering aspects regarding the pump station’s raw water challenges, and Pau Vranesic, director of the Houston Water Works Team, shares the size and scope of this project and how it integrates with other aspects of the granter project scope, including the Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer project, which was a 2020 WWD Top Project winner.
