Webinar Overview
Efficient and predictable operation of a sewer collection system is critical during design, construction and operation of the network. Pressure sewer systems are proven to offer efficiency and predictability, but there is always opportunity for improvement. Smart control systems such as OneBox represent a step change in how collection systems can be conceived, designed and operated. These control systems give the designer and the operator the ultimate flexibility to deliver predictable flow to downstream infrastructure by shifting or smoothing diurnal peaks. This enables the infrastructure, from the pipe network to the treatment plant, to be designed around actual flows instead of estimated or worst-case flows. The operator can monitor the system in real time and is notified about any issues far in advance of users, which minimizes operational costs and maximizes customer satisfaction. These systems are already in use in Australia and New Zealand, with more than 5,000 operating units in excess of four years. Join E/One as we welcome the developers of this technology from Australia. Learn about the development of the product, system design methodology, and how E/One can help investigate a smart LPS option for your next sewer project.
Company Profile
Environment One Corp. (E/One) is a diversified, high-technology company located in Niskayuna, N.Y., U.S.A. Manufacturing, engineering, administration and marketing operations are managed from Niskayuna. Environment One Corp. is owned by Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC), a worldwide manufacturer of complex metal components and products. PCC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK.A)
Low-pressure, gravity-independent, contour-following sewage collection systems were pioneered by Environment One. E/One Sewer systems are an economical and effective method of sewering otherwise difficult land areas, such as flat, wet, rocky and hilly terrain.
At the heart of an E/One Sewer is the grinder pump, developed by Environment One. These units accept household sanitary waste, grind it into a fine slurry and pressurize it to permit transport through small-diameter pipes. E/One Sewer Systems serve over one million end-users daily.
E/One's Sewer Systems business is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
Speaker Bio
Derek Lachut is the Regional Manager for Oceania Environment One Corp. Derek has been involved with E/One for more than 10 years. He was a member of the design team during the development of the Extreme family of products. Since then, Derek has held a number of roles with E/One’s parent company, including engineering and operations management. Since 2011, Derek has been involved with E/One’s interests in New Zealand and Australia, including project management, sales, pre/post sales support, local manufacturing support, and contract management. During this time, Derek has witnessed the exploration, development and deployment of "smart" control systems for pressure sewer networks in certain areas of that market. The benefits of smart systems are real and the CAPEX and OPEX savings in Australia and New Zealand can be realized in North America and beyond.
Sis Sathongnot is the Solutions Design Manager for iota Services, a commercial arm within South East Water in Australia. His focus is providing a pressure sewer solution for the external market. For the past 10 years, Sis has been working in the government water industry (South East Water), leading a team and designing pressure sewer systems for backlog and capital projects that serviced more than 21,000 properties. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Computing Engineering.
