Residential & Commercial Perspective on the Lead & Copper Rule Revision | WWD Weekly Digest

June 20, 2022
The Lead & Copper Rule Revision has a clear and direct impact on water utilities, but what about the impact on homeowners and commercial building owners?

The Lead & Copper Rule Revision went into effect in December of 2021 and has required utilities to not only inventory their lead service lines but also create a plan to replace the lead pipe infrastructure in their communities. A growing challenge: addressing lead pipe in private homes and commercial buildings.

Les Merrill is a founding partner of Retego Labs and shares his thoughts on how the LCRR will impact residential homeowners and commercial building owners. He also highlights some important resources for the general public and ways that utilities and local water treatment dealerships can coordinate and partner to address lead in their communities. He also notes the dangers of stagnant water in office buildings vacated during the coronavirus pandemic.
