Plastics Pipe Institute Joins

Washington, D.C. - The Plastic Pipe Institute (PPI) has taken another step toward furthering its mission by joining the Water Infrastructure Network (W.I.N.) Coalition.

PPI is dedicated to maintaining liasions with industry, educational and government groups and defining tachnical standards for the plastic piping industry.

"Our country's 54,000 drinking water systems and 16,000 waste water systems face staggering infrastructure funding needs of nearly $1 trillion over the next 20 years," Said Rich Gottwald, executive director of PPI. "These systems also face an unprecedented funding gap of $23 billion a year between current investments in infrastructure and the investments that will be necessary over the next 20 years to replace aginf or failing pipes and keep our water clean. PPI is committed to working with W.I.N. to help find the funding for this gap."

The W.I.N. Coalition is a broad-based coalition of local elected officials, drinking water and wastewater service providers, state environmental and health administrators, engineers and environmentalists dedictaed to preserving and protecting the health, enviornmental and economic gains that America's drinking water and wastewater infrastructe provides.
