Harvey Morris Herro, who was called "the godfather of metallurgy" for his problem solving expertise helping companies battle corrosion, died on Dec. 31 of complications from a brain tumor.
Herro was employed for 20 years by ONDEO Nalco, in Naperville, Ill. – a company that researches and finds solutions for water-related problems in buildings. He was best known for solving problems related to boilers and machinery. His expertise also was reportedly valued by nuclear plants, casinos, and even the U.S. Air Force.
Herro spoke worldwide on corrosion and wrote hundreds of articles and two books on the subject.
