ENSR International, an environmental and energy development services firm, announced the acquisition of Atlantic Geoscience Corporation, a water resources consulting firm based in Gilford, N.H.

The acquisition is part of ENSR's strategy to further develop its capabilities in the exploration, development, protection and management of water supply and resources.

"Our clients are increasingly concerned about the availability of water, as clean water becomes scarce in every region of the U.S., even in the northeast, which has not traditionally experienced this problem", said Robert C. Weber, president of ENSR North America. "Atlantic Geoscience substantially strengthens ENSR's ability to assist clients with water resources and supply issues and adds leadership to further develop this important area of our business."

The former Atlantic Geoscience staff will incorporate their expertise in strategic water resources planning, hydrogeology, surface water hydrology, groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, remote sensing, and water supply system design and operations into ENSR's broad service and geographic delivery capabilities.

"Atlantic Geoscience brings unique expertise in fractured bedrock hydrogeology and greatly augments ENSR's capabilities in water supply services, especially in groundwater exploration, development, and management," noted Don Galya, director of ENSR's Water and Natural Resource Management Services.

The acquisition also brings new client relationships and strengthens ENSR's position in several rapidly growing markets. Atlantic Geoscience has experience assisting bottled water manufacturers, municipalities, private water companies, beverage manufacturers and recreation facilities with technical and strategic water supply development and management issues.

"By joining forces with a world-class environmental and energy services firm like ENSR, we will be able to provide our clients with a greatly expanded spectrum of services. For clients with national and international operations, we can offer the efficiencies afforded by using local offices throughout the U.S. and abroad," said Jack Donohue, Founding Principal and President of Atlantic Geoscience.

All staff and projects associated with Atlantic Geoscience will operate under the ENSR name, and a seamless transition with no anticipated changes in staffing is underway.

ENSR International's services include water resource consulting and engineering, air quality, capital project permitting, remediation and regulatory closure, risk assessment, process engineering, due diligence, and environmental health and safety management consulting.
