Osmonics, Inc. has received the National Science Foundation's ANSI/NSF Standard 53 certification for its Flotrex(tm) GF pleated filters. ANSI/NSF Standard 53 focuses on drinking water equipment that can successfully remove excessive levels of contaminants that affect human health.
"Obtaining the NSF certification for the Flotrex GF filter reinforces our dedication to assuring superior quality for our customers," said Roger Miller, senior vice president and general manager, Osmonics Filtration and Separations Group. "As the beverage industry moves toward finer filtration practices, this certification assures manufacturers that their processes and products meet recommended industry safety standards."
Used primarily for final filtration in bottled water and beverage applications, the Flotrex GF filter removes cysts and bacteria, including Cryptosporidium and Giardia that are potentially harmful to consumers. As an absolute-rated filter constructed with durable glass microfiber media, the Flotrex GF filters also can be used for prefiltration in applications such as biological, pharmaceutical, chemical, oil and cosmetics.
With its one-micron absolute rating, the filter is 99.9 percent effective at removing particles that are one micron in size or larger. Along with its high retention capability, the variety of lengths -10 to 40 inches - allows Flotrex GF filters to be incorporated into new or existing hardware.
