NUCA contractor member, Greg Strudwick, of Strudwick & Associates in Dallas, Tex., was honored with a two-year appointment to OSHA’s Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH).

ACCSH is a 15-member committee charged with advising the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health on standards, polices, and practices related to the protection of construction workers from worksite hazards. Strudwick was appointed as an employee representative.

"It’s a tremendous honor for NUCA to have Greg appointed to this prestigious committee," said George Kennedy, NUCA’s Vice President, Safety. "His many years of experience as a contractor and as a safety instructor are invaluable as he represents the interests of the underground utility construction industry on this committee." Strudwick’s appointment demonstrates that the voice of NUCA’s membership will continue to be heard at OSHA

Strudwick is the first NUCA member since Delaine Nelson, (InfraSource, Inc., New Berlin, Wis.) nearly ten years ago, to serve on this committee. As a long-time member of NUCA, Strudwick is a NUCA instructor for the Excavation Safety and Competent Person Training Program and the Confined Space Entry Program. He chairs both the NUCA Safety Education and Training Subcommittee and the Safety Ambassador Club, is an instructor at the NUCA Safety Directors Forum, and co-teaches at the NUCA Train-the-Trainer program. In addition, Strudwick serves as chair of the NUCA 2003 Convention, which will take place March 18-21, 2003, in San Antonio, Tex.

The National Utility Contractors Association, based in Arlington, Va., comprises 44 chapters of local underground utility construction contractors and suppliers throughout the United States. NUCA’s nearly 2,000 members provide the materials and workforce to build and maintain our nation’s network of water, sewer, gas, telecommunications, and other utility systems.
