Education to Be Mixed with Fun at Water-Science Fair

A water and science fair exploring the theme "Know Your H2O" is planned for Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. in Rowland Heights, Calif. Some 16 activities will help teach up to 1,500 students and family members at Alvarado Intermediate School and its five feeder elementary schools in Rowland Heights about water treatment, water quality and the importance of conservation measures in arid Southern California.

The fair is sponsored by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and co-hosted by Three Valleys Municipal Water District and Rowland Water District, in partnership with the school.

Children will be involved in numerous water projects, games and entertainment including hands-on water experiments, chalk art, balloon artists, hip-hop dancing and live music.

Metropolitan's free water education materials have been used in Southland schools for the past 20 years, teaching more than 20,000 teachers and 2 million students about the value of water.

The event will take place at Alvarado Intermediate School, 1901 South Desire Ave., Rowland Heights.
