GE Water & Process Technologies, a unit of General Electric, and HW Process Technologies, Inc. (HWPT), a unit of the Harrison Western Companies, announced a new strategic alliance aimed at providing proprietary, environmentally sound, process recovery, water reuse and wastewater solutions to serve the global mining market.

"The GE-Harrison Western alliance is a welcomed addition to our ecomagination portfolio," said George Oliver, CEO, GE Water & Process Technologies. "The mining and mineral processing industries must comply with strict environmental laws and regulations that are designed to protect public health and the environment. This alliance will help customers meet today's rapidly-changing environmental regulations head-on, while simultaneously recovering valuable minerals, increasing overall productivity, and assisting customers in cutting environmental costs that impact their bottom lines."

"The alliance is a positive step forward for both companies and presents endless opportunities to deploy advanced membrane technologies and solutions into the global mining market," said Ken Brunk, president and chief executive officer of HWPT.

This will meet the rapidly increasing demand for the recovering of valuable metals and reagents, producing clean water for recycle or surface discharge, and the reducing water and/or sludge volumes at gold, copper, silver, and other ore facilities. The GE-Harrison Western alliance will encompass a full breadth of pretreatment, advanced membrane based separation and post treatment to aid in the development of process and wastewater solutions for the hard rock mining market. The alliance will also focus on reducing the use of chemicals, and providing cost effective, environmentally compliant solutions to address a wider range of complex process, filtration and separation issues.
