The American Water Works Association (AWWA) will hold a webcast on March 1 to help utility managers of small and medium systems maximize their performance.
Representatives from the Kitsap Public Utility District in Washington state will share a best practices model to improve effectiveness in small- to medium-sized water systems. The model will help utility managers address problems such as incomplete understanding of the impact that contaminants have on public health, lack of expertise in designing, organizing, managing, monitoring and/or operating small systems, training and education at all levels of operation and oversight, and a regulatory climate more focused on compliance than on risks to public health.
Speakers include General Manager David Siburg, Assistant Manager Bob Hunter, and Water Operations Supervisor Jason Nutsford.
Kitsap Public Utility District (PUD) is a multi-product, countywide special purpose district. It provides ongoing community and technical reports of its extensive water resource monitoring system, area specific weather and evapotransporation data monitoring, broad based community water conservation education, and water reuse planning. Kitsap PUD is responsible for water management for Kitsap County, including 56 domestic water systems throughout a service area of over 400 square miles. In addition, Kitsap PUD provides management services to over 120 other water systems within the county. Kitsap PUD provides some level of domestic water service to over 50,000 Kitsap County residents.
