Wyoming City Investigates Wastewater Allegations

April 6, 2007

Wyoming officials are looking into allegations regarding problems at a treatment plant that treats wastewater from Alpine, Wyo., a small town along the Snake River in western part of the state.

The town's attorney, Elizabeth Koeckeritz, told the Casper Tribune she could not confirm or deny whether sewage was being dumped into the river just above Palisades Reservoir.

A statement read by Alpine Mayor Victoria DeCora stated that the town council recently received information that has led to an investigation into the status of the facility. The town’s attorney is also looking into specific actions by town employees.

John Wagner, administrator for DEQ's water quality division, reported to the Casper Tribune that his office has received not received anything in writing and cannot speculate on the exact nature of the problem.
