Awwa Research Foundation (AwwaRF) elected David E. Rager as chairman of the board for the term of 2007 - 2010. Rager was appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Board meeting held in Toronto, Canada, June 23, 2007.

“I have known David for many years and have found him to be an exceptional water utility manager who is greatly respected internationally in the utility business. I am confident David will prove to be a strong successor to Walter J. Bishop who has served AwwaRF and its board so well for several years” stated Robert C. Renner, executive director of AwwaRF. “AwwaRF is committed to provide the leadership required advancing the science of drinking water by building a body of knowledge to help utilities and other water professionals stay ahead of emerging issues and continuously enhance operations, improve drinking water quality, and meet customer expectations.”

As director of the Greater Cincinnati Water Works, Rager oversees a utility that serves approximately 1,000,000 people over about 800 square miles in southwestern Ohio and northern Kentucky. He has worked to develop a strategic business plan, utilize employee work teams, have regular customer surveys and focus groups for insight into service delivery, expand into new services and service areas, and use technology to manage costs and activity-based resource management, and work in innovative ways with other utilities in the region to solve regional water supply and utility services issues.

Nationally, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies where he recently served as President, the American Water Works Association Manufacturers/Associates Council, and the Water Utility Council.
