Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco International Ltd., and a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has been awarded a US$15.2 million contract to design, build and operate the New Ross Wastewater Treatment Plant for the historic town of New Ross, located in County Wexford in the Republic of Ireland.
On behalf of the Wexford County Council, Earth Tech and its joint venture partner, Fleming Construction, will design and construct a new wastewater treatment facility, a main pumping station, an interceptor sewer and new accommodation building for the 16,000 population equivalent sewage treatment plant. The Earth Tech team also will operate the new facility for 20 years once it has been commissioned.
Earth Tech’s operations in Ireland will lead the joint venture and provide the project management and client interface for the new plant. Project work is scheduled to begin in July and completion is expected by July 2009.
The New Ross Wastewater Treatment Plant is part of the ongoing New Ross wastewater infrastructure expansion and upgrade, which aims to comply with the E.U. Urban Wastewater Directive. As part of this effort, the scheme will include the construction of a new quay trunk sewer to intercept existing raw sewage outfalls to the River Barrow.
Earth Tech has successfully partnered with Fleming Construction on two similar projects in Ireland.
