Wastewater Treatment Manager Pleads Guilty for Violating Clean Water Act

Jeffrey J. Frey, Nebraska regional manager for PeopleService, Inc., pleaded guilty on Feb. 16 in U.S. District Court in Omaha to violating the Clean Water Act and making false statements to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ). The charges state that between June 1995 and April 1997 Frey filed false discharge monitoring reports for sewage treatment systems that he managed for PeopleService. The charges further state that the filing of these false reports allowed the defendant to defraud PeopleService clients of $350,000. Frey faces a sentence of up to seven years in prison and/or a fine up to $500,000. The case was investigated by EPA's Criminal Investigation Division, NDEQ, the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Attorney General's Office. (Source: Environmental Protection Agency)
