PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences, a global leader in application-focused measurement and analysis solutions, recently hosted a water consortium with key industry leaders in recognition of New Orleans hosting PITTCON for the first time after Hurricane Katrina.
This consortium focused on discussing the issues, challenges and importance of protecting water today and in the future. The event is part of PerkinElmer's EcoAnalytix problem-solving initiative that addresses the global imperatives of food and consumer product safety, water quality and sustainable energy development to create a healthy and safe environment. It encompasses comprehensive application-focused solutions with innovative thought leadership and public outreach programs to bring insights from top scientists and government agencies directly to customers.
Keynote speakers included Bill Bertera, executive director of the Water Environment Federation (WEF); Jim Clark, vice president, Black & Veatch Corp.; and Dr. Richard Begley, president, Analytical Sciences, PerkinElmer, Inc.
“We believe that holding forums such as the 2008 Water Consortium are critical to enable the exchange of insights from a range of stakeholders to help create a healthy and safe environment,” Begley said. “We look forward to continuing the dialogue with industry thought leaders from around the world to ensure that we keep the conversation going about how to ensure the quantity and quality of the global ecosystem's most important resources.”
“Safe, available water cannot be taken for granted,” Bertera said. “Insights gained from forums such as this are invaluable to WEF as we work toward technical and public policy solutions to support our mission of preserving and enhancing the global water environment.”
