Huntington Beach, Calif., Selects Bentley Modeling Software

"Surf City" chooses Bentley's WaterGEMS water distribution modeling and design software
April 9, 2008

The city of Huntington Beach, Calif., recognized internationally as “Surf City,” has selected Bentley’s award-winning WaterGEMS as its new water distribution modeling and design software. Huntington Beach’s water distribution system supplies potable water to more than 195,000 permanent residents and millions of visitors who come every summer to enjoy its beaches. Its location in drought-prone Southern California makes efficient water management a critical issue. The city’s reasons for choosing WaterGEMS include the software’s many powerful tools and its ease of use.

As Duncan Lee, P.E., principal civil engineer for Huntington Beach, said, “The simplified implementation of powerful modeling tools and the high level of user friendliness built into WaterGEMS are impressive. They were the key factors in our decision to switch software.”

Jack Cook, Bentley vice president, said, “Water is our most critical resource in terms of sustainability, as California well knows. Bentley is committed to providing tools for sustaining a community’s water infrastructure, and our Haestad Methods solutions are a great example. Huntington Beach joins other California communities, including San Jose Water, Vallecitos Water District and San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, in using WaterGEMS V8 XM Edition.”
