Hutchison Whampoa (HWL) has announced the launch of a new division, Hutchison Water—a provider of comprehensive water production and treatment solutions.
With offices in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the Middle East, Hutchison Water looks to tap into the rising demand for water globally as populations and industries grow by providing efficient and cost effective solutions for each client’s water needs.
“Hutchison Whampoa is entering into an exciting arena with Hutchison Water, which we believe will create significant value for the group in the coming years,” said Canning Fok, HWL’s group managing director.
“Increasing demand coupled with depleting natural resources from global warming, over-usage and contamination has created significant opportunities in this field. Hutchison Water intends to rapidly develop its business in this burgeoning water market.”
The new water solutions provider will be headed by Amikam Cohen with Dan Eldar and a team of seasoned executives. Hutchison Water has already recruited some of the best technology experts in the areas of desalination, water reuse, water treatment and wastewater treatment. Team members have extensive experience in managing and supervising the design, building and operation of over 1,000 water-related projects.
“Through alliances with partners, acquisition of players in our areas of activity and investment in some of the most innovative water technology companies, we will provide our customers around the world with advanced solutions and end-to-end services to their water needs,” said Amikam Cohen, CEO of Hutchison Water.
Hutchison Water will leverage upon the global operational expertise and financial strength of Hutchison Whampoa, which operates in 57 countries, and work in close cooperation with the Group’s infrastructure divisions.
