GE Water and STW Collaborate in Oil Field Water Recovery

Companies will deploy thermal evaporation technologies to recover wastewater generated by hydraulic fracturing
July 29, 2008

GE Water & Process Technologies and STW Resources, Inc. have formed a partnership to reduce the amount of fresh water lost in hydraulic fracturing, a process used in the extraction of oil and gas.

GE Water and STW will deploy thermal evaporation technologies to recover up to 70% of the wastewater generated by hydraulic fracturing, which produces billions of gallons of wastewater each year in U.S. oil and gas production fields.

“This effort will leverage STW’s vast knowledge and contacts in the oil and gas industry and our broad portfolio of innovative solutions to deliver economic and environmental benefits,” said Jeff Garwood, GE Water’s president and CEO. “This is yet another example of how we strategically work with industry leaders to drive growth and bring solutions to our customers around the world.”
