Building off of the successful inaugural joint venture in 2009 between pump expert, Dr. Lev Nelik, and Water & Wastes Digest, PumpTec is back in 2010. PumpTec provides plant maintenance and engineering professionals working with pumps with "rapid-deployment" hands-on training exercises, specifically designed to reinforce pump theory, applications and pump repair, and maintenance techniques. PumpTec promises to offer practical and pragmatic training for everyone, from pump novices to old timers.
The event will take place at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago–Arlington Heights, 75 West Algonquin Road, in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Attendees will receive training on a variety of pump types, styles and brands. They also will participate in technical sessions with hands-on demonstrations. In addition, they will see the pump internals, assemble pumps and learn pump troubleshooting methods, and view exhibits from leading industry suppliers. They can earn 1.6 Continuing Education Units and a Pump Training Certificate of Attendance.
Engineering, maintenance, operating and management professionals from water and wastewater municipalities, power plants, chemical plants, HVAC, pulp and paper mills and general pump-related affiliations are encouraged to attend. Industries involved include power generation, water and wastewater, chemical and petrochemical plants, hydrocarbon processing, paper mills, Marine and Navy and general industries.
PumpTec Chicago attendees now have an additional opportunity to learn about unique pump installations throughout the U.S. from the solution providers of the pumping equipment.
The Pumps In Action Lunch & Learn workshop, offered on the first day of the conference, will feature a series of presentations that will include overviews of project design objectives, challenges, results and details about economic benefits. The series will conclude with a Q&A session.
The event will also include a networking reception and keynote address by safety expert John Martin, who has 25 years of experience in industry safety solutions.
