Bike Tours of Chicago's Water System for ACE10 Participants and Guests

June 21, 2010

Aqueous Bike Tours will lead bike tours of Chicago's water system, to take place on Tuesday, June 22, starting at gate 42 of McCormick Place at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The tour will explore Chicago's water system, especially the famous reversal of the Chicago River and the expansion of Chicago into Lake Michigan. Highlights along the way include the stadiums of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears, a quarry turned into a pond and park, and the lakefront bike path. The tour finishes with dramatic views of the Chicago skyline and returns to McCormick Place.

The leader of the tour is Matthew Frank, the founder of Aqueous Advisors. He is a licensed New York City Tour Guide, a graduate of the New York Cycle Club's program in leading group rides and a Ph.D. in the history of science from the University of Chicago.

The tours are exclusively for participants and guests at the American Water Works Association's annual conference, ACE10.

The tours begin at the West Building of McCormick Place, where the conference takes place. They cover 10 miles, going mostly along city streets, with some bike paths. They are suitable for all riders.

The cost for the tours is $95. Participants will be provided with bikes, helmets, water, and maps of Chicago and the tour.

The themes of the tour will also be explored in a poster at the conference, presented by Aqueous Advisors and Watercat Consulting: "Meeting the Challenges of Water Tours," in the WED29 poster session on Wednesday afternoon.
