Spanish Engineering Specialist to Build Desalination Plant in Australia

Second-largest Australian plant will be ready by 2011

A consortium led by Spain-based engineering specialist, Técnicas Reunidas and contractor Sacyr Vallehermoso’s subsidiary Valoriza Agua, has been awarded a contract to build and operate the second largest desalination plant in Australia.

According to Australian Water Corp., the total cost of the project is estimated to be $630 million. The plant is scheduled to be ready by 2011 and will initially produce 50 million liters of fresh drinkable water a year.
