This year in mid-August, thousands of city, town, and county, public and private sector public works and solid waste professionals will converge in downtown Boston for two association conferences co-located in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Joining forces for the first time are the American Public Works Assn. (APWA) 2010 International Public Works Congress & Exposition, held Aug. 15 to 18, and the Solid Waste Assn. of North America (SWANA) WASTECON 2010, held Aug. 15 to 17. Between the two groups, an estimated 8,000 professionals will be attending the two events.
Although the two conferences will each operate as separate events, attendees will be able to walk the approximately 140,000 sq ft of combined exhibit space and participate in any of the over 200 educational sessions from both events.
“APWA is looking forward to co-locating the annual APWA 2010 International Public Works Congress & Exposition with SWANA’s WASTECON,” said APWA President Larry Koehle. “Both of the conferences feature high quality education sessions that include professional development and training that attendees can take back to their communities.
