The city of Chattanooga, Tenn., awarded a $3 million cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) contract to SAK Construction for a wastewater collection system rehabilitation and replacement project on the Upper Amnicola and Tiftonia Interceptors in Hamilton County. SAK is a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling industries contractor headquartered in the St. Louis area.
SAK’s application of CIPP plays a vital role in the pipeline rehabilitation industry’s “no dig” technology, which rehabilitates damaged sewer pipes quickly and cost-effectively with minimal disruption or inconvenience to the surrounding community and environment. The Upper Amnicola and Tiftonia Interceptor projects are managed by the city of Chattanooga. Both projects are on the priority ranking list of the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Project completion is scheduled for December 2010.
