Patrick J. Natale, P.E., F.ASCE, executive director of the American Society of Civil Engineers, has recently been named to ASAE’s 2011 class of Fellows.
ASAE’s Fellows program recognizes individual accomplishments and contributions to ASAE and the association community, and is a call to service for the profession. The Fellows recognition denotes individuals who have made a significant impact on the association community through exemplary volunteer service and leadership, extraordinary accomplishments and/or other significant major contributions to ASAE and the profession of association management.
In November 2002, Patrick J. Natale began his tenure as the executive director of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Established in 1852, ASCE is the oldest national professional engineering society. With a membership of over 140,000 and an annual operating budget of over $54 million, the Society is dedicated to advancing the art, science and profession of engineering for the betterment of humanity. Natale is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Society. He provides executive leadership to a staff of more than 260 and an active volunteer workforce of over 7,500, facilitating ASCE's tradition of supplying high-quality and high-value products and services to its members and other customers worldwide.
“I’m honored to be named to ASAE’s 2011 Class of Fellows,” Natale said.
“The ASAE Fellows program is an honorary recognition bestowed upon less than 1% of ASAE’s membership,” said Jeffrey N. Shields, CAE, executive director of the National Business Officers Assn. and chair of ASAE’s Fellows Selection Committee. “It is also a call to continued leadership and service as an ASAE member. The 2011 class of Fellows represents an exemplary group of association leaders. It is an honor to welcome them to the Fellows community.”
The Fellows selection process includes endorsement by a peer; an in-depth application describing the individual's innovation, leadership and commitment to the profession; an interview with a member of the selection committee; and ultimately selection from among a group of highly-qualified candidates.
