Hach Co. announced that Charles (Chuck) Scholpp, director of Integrated Information Management Business Development and Six Sigma leader at Hach, will be presenting how water/wastewater operators can take a lean approach to streamlining their operations at AWWA ACE 2011. A natural leader and implementer of lean practices for years, Scholpp will outline the basic tenets of what makes a Lean Operation and how water and wastewater operators can take steps toward realizing a more efficient utility through practical and useful best practices.
“Today, the water/wastewater industry faces many challenges,” Scholpp said. “Budgets are tight and regulations are constantly changing. In addition, more than 60% of the workforce is expected to retire in the next four years, meaning decades of knowledge retention will need to be passed on to the next generation of water/wastewater operators.”
Scholpp will present the four steps for implementing lean operations for water treatment facilities at AWWA in Hach’s booth (#2326) and will outline four basic principles that operators can immediately start using to practicing lean in their facilities. Presentation times include Monday, June 13, at 3 p.m., and Tuesday, June 14, at 3:30 p.m.
