Oct. 6, 2011

Lisa Sparrow, president and CEO of Utilities Inc., has been named president of the NAWC Board of Directors

The National Assn. of Water Cos. (NAWC) announced that Lisa Sparrow, president and CEO of Utilities Inc., has been named president of the NAWC Board of Directors. Sparrow, who joined Utilities in April 2002, assumes the NAWC board presidency from Eric W. Thornburg, chairman, president and CEO of the Connecticut Water Co.

Prior to joining Utilities, Sparrow spent ten years at BP serving in various capacities, including refinery engineering, operations and business development.

“America’s water infrastructure needs are on the forefront of critical discussions at both the state and federal levels," Sparrow said. "It’s vital that officials set policy to free up the private money available for these types of truly sustainable projects and partnerships. I thank my peers for entrusting me with this great honor.”

Sparrow was also named president of the NAWC Board of Directors’ Executive Committee.

NAWC is pleased to also welcome the following new members to its 2011-2012 Board of Directors: Dennis L. Ciemniecki, president of regulated business at United Water; Charles V. Firlotte, president and CEO of Aquarion; Susan Mays, vice president of marketing and strategic initiatives at CH2M HILL; Christopher Schilling, co-CEO of Park Water Co.; Thomas Smegal, vice president of regulatory matters and corporate relations at California Water Service Co.; W. Richard Roth, president and CEO of San Jose Water Co.; and Nicholle Taylor, vice president of Artesian Water Co.
