Oct. 20, 2011

Together the companies will offer customers smart solutions, software and services

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, is pleased to announce its acquisition of Telvent, enabling the company to offer more complete and efficient infrastructure solutions to their customers.

Working together, the companies will offer customers smart solutions, software and services across numerous market segments. The integration will provide customers comprehensive solutions for energy management and intelligent and efficient infrastructures in smart grid technology; oil, gas and water infrastructure; weather information services; smart transportation; and agriculture and global services.
Also new to the market is the Schneider Electric StruxureWare supervision and optimization software, an integrated software platform designed to simplify energy management and optimize process operation in buildings, data centers and industrial facilities.
The software is designed to simplify integration time, improve reliability, enhance visibility to energy information and optimize operational efficiency. As the software platform of EcoStruxure, it connects five domains of business expertise: power, data centers, process and machines, building control and physical security.
To further enhance energy management offerings, the company also launched a new comprehensive university relations program, aiming to promote collaboration between academia, government and the business community by providing energy management skills.
“There is a sizable business opportunity in energy management today and the market will continue to grow,” Schneider Electric President Jeff Drees said in a press release. “We all need to get off the sideline and do our part to ensure there is a skilled workforce at many levels to sustain the demand for energy management solutions.”
