Hobas Pipe Area Manager Jim Mahony was inducted into the society earlier this month

Nebraska Water Environment Assn. inducted Jim Mahony, area manager mid-central at Hobas Pipe USA, into the Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers on Nov. 3, 2011.

According to the Water Environment Federation (WEF) website, selection to membership in a chapter is recognition of "outstanding, meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty.” The society was originated to encourage members to get involved. You cannot join the society, you must be selected on the basis of merit.

Mahony attended the University of Northern Colorado. He has held a variety of positions over his career, including that of stationary engineer in the power industry and an oilfield area manager drilling superintendent. He has been working in the sanitary sewer industry since 1995.

He has held various committee positions and contributed to the industry through work on NWEA scholarships, NWOD advisory and training, and the NWEA public education committee. Mahony currently resides in Overland Park, Kan., with his wife, Julie.

Mahony has been employed by Hobas Pipe USA of Houston since 2004.
