Roland Lindsay Receives Precast Concrete’s Top Honor

Lindsay received the award at the NPCA annual convention in New Orleans

Roland Lindsay, an Ohio businessman, envisioned the potential of the precast concrete industry and made his dream come true. On Saturday, Oct. 6, his passion and dedication were honored at the National Precast Concrete Assn.’s (NPCA) 47th Annual Convention in New Orleans. Lindsay was presented with the Robert E. Yoakum Award, NPCA’s highest award.

After leaving the Army, an experience taught him to work hard and created the foundation that he would need to succeed in business. He started his own excavation company. Roland soon learned that the aggravating part of being an excavator was always waiting for the septic tank to be delivered, so he formed Lindsay Concrete Co., and started producing the tanks himself.

Ron, Lindsay’s son who grew up working in his father’s precast plant, said, “Lindsay Concrete’s success comes from my dad’s passion for excellence. That, and a hard-working, hands-on philosophy have made Lindsay Concrete a premier precast concrete producer for more than 50 years.”

Lindsay has been involved with NPCA since the beginning. He and his wife, Linda, attended the first NPCA meeting in Dayton, Ohio in 1965 and are still attending the annual meetings each year. He and Linda were among the group of founders who established many of the traditions of NPCA in early years.

“Without Roland’s vision, this industry would not be what it is today,” said NPCA President Ty Gable. “His half-century leadership in the precast concrete industry and his longtime service to the association have impacted many people, including the industry itself.”
