PC Construction’s Yellow River Water Reclamation Facility project has been named one of the “best of the best” in the country by the editors of Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine.

The improvements at the Lilburn, Ga.-based facility, recognized as the best civil works/infrastructure project in the nation in 2012, was one of nearly 1,000 projects submitted in 19 categories.

The fully integrated construction management team lead by PC Construction completed the $240 million Yellow River Water Reclamation Facility Improvements project one year early and $11 million under budget. Consolidating six water reclamation plants into one, the improvements are expected to reduce the plant’s annual operating costs by $2.4 million for the Department of Water Resources of Gwinnett County, Ga.

Working closely together, the full team included PC Construction; Jacobs; CH2M Hill; Precision Planning Inc.; Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources Engineering and Construction staff; and Yellow River plant staff.

“I have 22 years and $1.5 billion worth of construction projects that I’ve overseen, and I’ve never worked on a project that was anywhere close to this successful,” said Adam Minchey, Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources Special Projects Manager.

In an announcement about the winners, ENR editor Scott Blair noted: “These projects are truly outstanding examples for the entire construction industry of teamwork, safety, overcoming challenges, innovation and quality.”
