American Water Resources and Nashville Metro Water Services launched their official partnership to offer service line protection programs to an estimated 143,000 residential customers in Davidson County, as well as portions of Rutherford and Williamson Counties in Tennessee. American Water Resources’ Water and Sewer Line Protection Programs aim to educate homeowners about service line responsibility and help protect them from the potentially high cost of unexpected repairs to their service lines.

“At Nashville Metro Water Services we are committed to customer service, so we are excited to partner with American Water Resources to provide our customers an affordable and easy way to protect them from unexpected service line repairs,” said Martha Segal, assistant director, Metro Water Services. “Through this program, eligible Metro Water Services homeowners will now have access to American Water Resources’ affordable protection programs—from educating homeowners about their responsibility to maintain their water and sewer lines and providing customer service to establishing a local Nashville contractor network. We’re pleased that our customers now have access to this valuable service.”

“We are honored to partner with Nashville Metro Water Services to offer this customized protection program to its customers,” said Malcolm Conner, president, American Water Resources.  “Through our Water and Sewer Line Protection Programs, homeowners now have the ability to help safeguard themselves from the financial demands and stress that occur when they experience a water or sewer line problem.”

To help property owners better manage these risks and the high costs of service line repairs, Nashville Metro Water Services issued a Request for Proposals from qualified providers for service line protection programs in 2013. American Water Resources was awarded a contract to administer the service line protection programs for the eligible properties in the Nashville area.

Designed to protect homeowners from unexpected, costly service line repairs that are caused by normal wear and tear such as tree roots and age of service lines; the Water and Sewer Line Protection Programs provide a solution for repairs that are neither the responsibility of the city’s water department nor covered by typical homeowner’s insurance.  At no cost to the city and minimal cost to the customer, American Water Resources fully manages the service line protection programs—from establishing a local contractor network and providing customer service, to educating homeowners about their responsibility to maintain their water and sewer lines.

Metro Water Services customers may participate in the Water and Sewer Line Protection Program for a combined price of $11.49 per month. Customers may also elect to enroll in the Water Line Protection Program for $3.99 per month or the Sewer Line Protection Program for $7.99 per month. Those who enroll in the program will receive 24-hour customer support. There are no claim forms to submit and there are no deductibles for the homeowner.
