Carollo Engineers announced that engineer Kristiana Dragash was recently selected as the 2014 Florida Water Environment Assn.’s (FWEA) Young Professional of the Year. Dragash, who has worked out of the Carollo Engineers Sarasota office since 2012, was also recently nominated to serve as a director at large for FWEA.

The FWEA Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding young professional member for their contributions to the industry and profession. Dragash’s noteworthy dedication to FWEA and the local Manasota Chapter were significant considerations for her selection.

Dragash formed the local Manasota Chapter in 2010 after recognizing that there were not any local opportunities for FWEA members that did not include significant travel. In her role as founder and chapter chair, she has since doubled the local chapter membership. In addition, to supplement for the lack of a Manasota Student Chapter, Dragash made an effort to reach out to high school students in the area and implemented an annual donation from the chapter to the Booker High School Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Academy.

Dragash’s goal is to continue to promote the water quality profession, inspire colleagues and future engineers, and recruit future FWEA members and leaders on an even larger scale. With her recent nomination to the board, she will oversee a number of FWEA committees and participate in board of directors meetings.

Through her work at Carollo, Dragash has served as project engineer for many Florida projects, including: Collier County Utilities, Manatee County, Hillsborough County, Lee County, Pasco County and Tampa Bay Water.
