The American Council of Engineering Companies of California (ACEC California) named West Yost Associates as an Honor Award recipient of its Engineering Excellence Awards, for their work on the Davis-Woodland Water Supply Project (DWWSP). The intent of the awards is to recognize achievements in engineering and land surveying projects completed by California firms.
West Yost received recognition for their role as the lead engineering firm for the initial planning efforts, water rights acquisition, technical studies, program development and ultimately as the owner’s representative for the design-build-operate (DBO) contract procurement for the new regional facilities, which included a new intake on the Sacramento River, a new water treatment plant and raw and treated water pipelines.
This project is one of the largest and most complex water supply projects to be contracted via alternative delivery in California this past year, with an expected cost of roughly $228 million. Once completed, the project will serve more than two-thirds of the urban population of Yolo County, Calif.
“West Yost has been involved with this project for two decades. We have assisted and consulted on nearly every aspect of the project, including surface water, groundwater, wastewater, aquifer storage and recovery, waterright acquisition, and much more," said Jim Yost, a founding principal of West Yost. "We are very grateful to have been given this opportunity and are proud of our efforts as a firm. We also understand and truly appreciate the foresight and stamina of the cities of Davis and Woodland to see this project through to construction, and ultimately deliver a sustainable, reliable water supply to the communities in which we also live and work.”
Project entries are accepted into one of 12 project categories. The Honor Award winning projects will have photographic panels on display at the state capitol, outside of the governor’s office, in early 2015.
