Evoqua to Provide Clarifier Upgrades in San Francisco
Evoqua Water Technologies has been selected, with its sales partner, MISCOwater, to provide clarifier upgrades for the Southeast Water Pollution Control Plant (SWPCP) in San Francisco, Calif.
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) was looking to replace equipment at the SWPCP that had reached the end of its useful life, while also upgrading to more advanced clarifier technologies. The old equipment had been initially installed more than 30 years ago.
Evoqua’s Municipal Products and Services division will replace eight 120-ft. clarifier tanks with stainless steel secondary clarifiers with a hydraulic sludge removal system and FEDWA baffle system. FEDWA stands for Flocculating Energy Dissipation Well Arrangement. This energy dissipating system reduces flow velocities and improves flocculation, or the clumping together of fine particles, for more efficient solids settling and increased treatment capacity. The hydraulic sludge removal system removes settled solids with a hydraulic unitube header.
