Hip Hop Caucus, creator of People’s Climate Music, has released “Trouble in the Water,” a cinematic music video starring Common, on Facebook. “Trouble in the Water” is a record on the album “HOME” (Heal Our Mother Earth), Executive Produced by Malik Yusef. The video will call on viewers to sign a petition, from their Facebook or on peoplesclimatemusic.com, calling on Michigan governor Rick Snyder to start a compensation fund for victims of the Flint water crisis.
Through People’s Climate Music, the Hip Hop Caucus organizes diverse and influential artists to create music that inspires action around the climate change crisis, with a goal of leading the way to a clean energy future.
“‘Trouble in the Water’ links the global climate crisis to local environmental justice crises in poor communities and communities of color, including the ongoing water disaster in Flint, Mich.,” said Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., president and CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus. “The crisis in Flint has put politics and profit over the lives of people. Now it is time to reverse that process and create a compensation fund for victims of the Flint water crisis.”
