FPI Mag Meter

May 20, 2020

In May 2019, McCrometer installed a 99” FPI Mag® meter at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Grenada Hills location in Los Angeles, CA. The McCrometer team of flow experts, consisting of sales professionals as well as engineers, worked closely with the project engineers at LADWP to provide a customized solution to best support their flow application. The FPI Mag meter was the ideal choice for the LADWP’s large pipeline application due to its hot-tapping abilities and quick and streamlined installation, preventing the need to cut pipe, weld flanges, and shut down the pipeline for 2-3 days as is required by a traditional full-bore meter. The ability to still supply water to customers during installation was a major plus for the customer, as well as the reduced cost to their bottom line for a mag meter of this size.

The McCrometer team installed the 99” meter within a matter of hours using a proprietary installation tool and wired the meter to a converter. In this video case study, McCrometer Regional Sales Manager, Marc Bennett, describes the installation process and the unique application features that led the LADWP to choose the FPI Mag meter.
